Making
tremendous light offering in holy places during Sakadawa and multiply
merits by 100,000 times!

Buddha's
Birth, Enlightenment and Mahaparinirvana Day ("Sakadawa")
is a day in which Lord Buddha's Birth, Enlightenment and Mahaparinirrvana
took place. Every merit created in that month will be multiplied
by 100,000 times. |

For
ten days from 4 to 14 June, we are celebrating this most
special occasion with millions of light offering at the
Great Stupa of Bodhgaya and the Boudhanath Stupa in Nepal.
The lights will be offered with beautiful light offering
prayers written by Lama Atisha and Lama Zopa Rinpoche. Sponsor's
names and dedications will be read every day for the entire
ten days. Special dedication will be made to eradicate SARS
and all the epidemics.
We
wish to invite you to join this special occasion to make
most out of this precious time.

Pujas
for Protecting From & Curing SARS
Sponsoring
pujas to counteract SARS
The
following pujas were recommended by Kyabje Zopa Rinpoche to counteract
the SARS (Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome) virus now spreading
around the world. These pujas can protect the entire country from
SARS and benefit someone who has already contracted SARS:

have requested Lamas, Geshes and 600 Sanghas in Kopan to perform
these pujas on 16 May (Full Moon and Lunar Eclipse) and
14 June (Sakadawa). Merits created on these auspicious

Practices for Counteracting SARS

Kyabje
Zopa Rinpoche advised that the cause of the infection is one's
negative karma and SARS will arise when one's karma is ripened.

Practices
Rinpoche has recommended several other practices which can
be done individually for protecting from SARS. Please refer

Tibetan
Syllable
|
Rinpoche
said that this Tibetan syllable could be written on the palm
for protecting from getting disease from others. The syllable
is useful only if it is written on the palm, but not anywhere
else. It should be aware that the hand with the syllable written
on it must not touch anything unclean. The effectiveness of
the syllable depends on one's faith of its power. Rinpoche
also reminded us that the practices and the Tibetan syllable
need to be done simultaneously in order to be more effective
in dealing with SARS. |
